KINGSFORD – Cray S. Powell, 43, lifelong resident of Kingsford, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 15, 2014.
He was born on June 5, 1970, in Norway, son of Karen (Russell) Rosenburg and Gary (Darcie) Powell. He was a graduate of Kingsford High School and attended Northern Michigan University. Cray battled with epilepsy for most of his life.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents he is survived by four sisters, Terrie Powell of New Jersey, Sherida (Eric) Genereau of New London, Wis., Mary Byrnes of Florida and Kimberly Powell of Germantown, Wis.; grandmother, Barbara Ponchaud of Iron Mountain; close friend, Mary Skoglund of Kingsford; nieces and nephews, Trinity Byrnes of Florida, Orin Byrnes of Florida, Seth Genereau of New London and Taylor (Jo) Perry of Germantown. Cray also left many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of Cray’s life will be held on Friday, April 18, starting at 2 p.m. at the Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 on River Avenue in Iron Mountain.
