Finlandia coach resigns
HANCOCK – Finlandia University men’s basketball coach Terry Smith resigned his post Thursday after three years leading the Lions.
“I have been proud to serve Finlandia University for the past three years,” said Smith, a Forest Park High School graduate. “Coaching is so rewarding and the relationships that we develop are long lasting. I would like to thank the student-athletes, the athletics staff, and Director of Athletics Chris Salani for this opportunity.”
The release indicated Smith is ‘leaving to pursue new career opportunities.’
Finlandia athletic director Chris Salani said the university will begin a candidate search immediately.
“I’ve appreciated getting to know Terry professionally and I’d like to thank him for his commitment and dedication over the last three years in representing our basketball program. He is an excellent basketball tactician and ambassador of the sport, and we wish him well in his future endeavors.”
