Water main break in Norway

Staff Writer

NORWAY – A water main break on U.S. 8 in Norway will cause traffic to be detoured and water service to be shut off to surrounding residences on Tuesday.

Norway City Manager Ray Anderson said that the break was discovered early Monday morning. City officials spent Monday organizing with agencies like the Michigan Department of Transportation in an effort to fix the problem.

Work to repair the main will begin at 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Anderson said that all U.S. 8 traffic will be detoured onto Second Avenue and Saginaw Street for the duration of the project. Vehicles should not be parked along this route to allow for the smooth flow of traffic, he added.

Also during the project, water service will be shut off to residents on the 600 and 700 blocks of Brown Street (U.S. 8).

Anderson anticipates that the repair project will be completed sometime Tuesday.
