IRON MOUNTAIN – The second of two suspects who were recently arrested for a 2013 armed robbery in Iron Mountain has been charged.

Mary Angela Hawthorne, 26, of Fort Myers, Fla. faces felony counts of armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and home invasion-first degree.

If convicted, she could spend up to life in prison.

Hawthorne and her co-defendant, 36-year-old Gene Hebert of Niagara, Wis., were arrested on March 8 in Pennsylvania on their outstanding armed robbery warrants out of Iron Mountain.

They waived extradition and were transported back to Michigan.

The charges they face stem from an Aug. 6, 2013 incident in Iron Mountain.

Hawthorne and Hebert, along with a third co-defendant who has already been sentenced, are accused of entering a residence on the 200 block of West Brown Street in order to rob the male resident at knifepoint. Taken in the robbery were the resident’s medical marijuana and cash.

Dickinson County Prosecutor Lisa Richards said that the dates of the defendants’ preliminary examinations in Dickinson County District Court have yet to be determined.
