Chester Johnson Jr.
NIAGARA, Wis – Chester W. Johnson Jr. died on Friday, March 21, 2014, at the age of 68, due to heart complications, in the care of the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, Wis.
He is survived by his spouse of 47 years, Besie Marie Johnson of Niagara.
He left behind his three children, Shelia and Brett Ayers of Iron Mountain, Chester W. Johnson III of Iron Mountain, and youngest daughter, Eva and Aaron Ring of Madison.
Chester also left his five grandchildren, beginning with oldest: Brett and Emily Ayers of Madison, Aaron Ayers of Iron Mountain, Caitlin Johnson of Iron Mountain, Caleb Johnson of Iron Mountain and youngest Dominic Ring of Madison; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Chester W. Johnson; his mother, Claire Woods; and his sisters, Claudette Hendrickson of Florida, and Cemone Anderson of Crystal Falls.
Chester contributed a total of 13 years of service in the U.S. Army, consisting of three tours in Vietnam. In that time, he was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star of Heroism. Due to this service and mindset, he was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), the Lions Club of Niagara and the American Legion.
Chester’s hobbies were hunting and fishing, justified by his love for being in the outdoors.
The funeral services and arrangements will be announced at a later date.
