Winter weather advisory issued

MARQUETTE – A winter weather advisory has been issued for the Upper Peninsula and northeastern Wisconsin, National Weather Service officials announced.

The advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m. today.

“Snow will become more widespread early this morning then continue into this afternoon along the Wisconsin border and into this evening closer to Lake Superior,” the National Weather Service at Marquette said.

Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are expected.

“Patchy blowing snow may develop by this evening closer to Lake Superior as north winds gust over 20 mph,” the advisory said.

A low temperature of around 17 degrees is expected overnight with a high of around 36 degrees on Thursday.
