Goyak named league’s best
WABENO, Wis. – Goodman-Pembine’s Courtney Goyak earned Northern Lakes Conference Player of the Year and teammate Rachel Stankevich also made the first team in voting conducted by league coaches.
The seniors powered the Patriots to runner-up in the NLC standings. Goyak averaged 16. 6 points and 13.4 rebounds per game while Stankevich tallied 15.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists.
Sara Cottrell of Crandon, Makayla Raith of Elcho and Ashley Volkmann of Phelps rounded out the first team.
Florence senior Maddy Doll was a second-team choice with Peyton Radaj and Lindsay Schoff of Three Lakes; Ceanne Harrison of Laona-Wabeno, and Celia Space of Crandon.
Eleven players received honorable mention, with Florence’s Aly Young and Tessa Merhalski on the list.
