U.P. man critically wounded in domestic shooting

NEGAUNEE – A male victim was critically wounded in a shooting Saturday during a dispute between family members at a home in Palmer, said state police at the Negaunee post.

During an argument a firearm was discharged causing critical injury to one of the two males, said troopers, who were dispatched to the residence at 12:35 p.m. (Eastern time).

The victim was transported to Marquette General Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. He was listed in critical condition late Saturday night.

The other male was taken to the state police post where he was later arrested on weapons-related offenses. The state police crime lab was at the scene processing and collecting evidence.

Assisting at the scene were the Marquette County Sheriff Department, Richmond Township First Responders and Marquette General EMS.

No further information is being released pending a review by the Marquette County prosecutor.
