House fire in Caspian

CASPIAN – Firefighters responded to a house fire in Caspian on Thursday afternoon.

The Caspian-Gaastra Fire Department arrived at 133 Berkshire Ave. at 1:38 p.m.

Fire Chief Tony Tomasoski said the fire was electrical in nature, but an exact cause has yet to be determined.

The blaze apparently began in an interior wall and traveled upwards through the residence.

No injuries were reported.

According to firefighters on scene, every room of the residence was searched and no one was found inside. The homeowner was out of town.

A chainsaw was used to gain access to the upper level of the house.

A team of 18 firefighters extinguished the flames and the scene was cleared at 4:08 p.m.

An estimate of damage was not immediately available.

Assisting on scene were the Caspian-Gaastra Police Department, Northstar EMS, Uppco and Michcon.
