Betty Broullire

KINGSFORD – Betty L. Broullire, 87, of Kingsford, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014, at Freeman Health and Rehabilitation Community in Kingsford.

Betty was born on July 2, 1926, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late William and Clara (Mitchell) Poad. She was a 1945 graduate of Iron Mountain High School and attended Dundon’s Business School for two years. Betty worked as a dental assistant for a few years and on Dec. 8, 1951, she married Lloyd Broullire. They recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. After their first child was born, Betty became a full time homemaker. Her material possessions never meant as much as her family and home life. Her strong faith in God was the foundation of her life. Betty was an active member of First United Methodist Church. She sang in the church choir, taught Sunday School, served as president of the Ladies Aide for 16 years and was a leader in many of the church youth activities. She also served as a Cub Scout den mother.

Betty put everyone else first and herself second. She absolutely adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and made attending their sporting events and other activities a top priority. She loved to go camping, travel, sew, cook, can garden vegetables and entertain at family get togethers. She was also an accomplished cake decorator.

Betty is survived by her husband, Lloyd; children, Allen (Teena) Broullire of Kingsford, Denyce (Mark) Hansch of Iron Mountain and Nancy (Tracy) LaFleur of Kingsford; grandchildren, Kortnee (Nick) Fornetti, Jourdan (Samantha) Broullire, Amber (Jeramiah) Butterfield and Michael LaFleur; and great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Emery, Jude, Lucas, McKenna, Traci, Jaxson, Konnor and Grayson.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 14, from 9 a.m. to noon at First United Methodist Church in Iron Mountain.

The funeral service will follow at noon Friday at the church. Rev. Walter Reichle will officiate.

Burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory at First United Methodist Church of Iron Mountain.
