Hospital visitor restrictions lifted

IRON MOUNTAIN – The hospital-wide visitor restrictions that were implemented in January throughout Dickinson County Memorial Hospital have been lifted with the exception of the OB Unit/Family Birth Place.

In order to keep newborns and their mothers safe and healthy, the OB Unit/Family Birth Place continues to restrict visitation to the spouse/significant other, parents and grandparents of the newborn(s) only. Anyone under the age of 18, including siblings, will be unable to visit in the OB Department. These restrictions will remain in effect until further notice.

“Visitor restrictions have been lifted for the general hospital areas but will remain in effect in the OB Unit due to the number of respiratory illnesses we are seeing in our pediatric population,” said Brenda DeAmicis, RN, Infection Prevention Nurse at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital. “The Family Birth Place will remain on restrictions until further notice to help keep our youngest and most vulnerable patients safe from infection.”

“We appreciate your cooperation and understanding,” said DeAmicis. “Our visitor restriction hotline number is 776-5950 and is updated regularly as conditions change. We encourage you to call this number prior to planning a visit to the hospital’s OB Unit.”
