John Bucek Jr.

CRYSTAL FALLS – John B. “Uncle Johnnie” Bucek Jr., 87, passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at the Iron County Medical Care Center in Crystal Falls.

He was born on June 11, 1926, in Crystal Falls, son of the late John Sr. and Angeline (Micholick) Bucek. John grew up and attended school in Crystal Falls. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European, African, and Middle Eastern Theaters.

John was a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church. He worked in the local iron mines, in construction, and also for Crystal Falls Township. John enjoyed many hobbies, including the outdoors, gardening, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by one sister, Margie Skibo of Alpha; one sister-in-law, Joyce Bucek of Crystal Falls; two nephews, Tom and Randy Bucek of Crystal Falls; and numerous other nieces and nephews, including Pat, Terry, Carolyn, Nancy, Bob, Walter, Frank, Linda, Patsy, Barb, Cheryl, Scott, Sandy and extended family.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by five sisters, Mary Minick, Helen Minick, Beatrice Bjork, Sophie Huska and Angeline Hollich; and two brothers, Thomas and Joseph Bucek.

In accordance with John’s wishes, a memorial service will be announced in the spring, with burial to follow at Stambaugh Cemetery.
