Trojans shoot past Hawks

CRYSTAL FALLS – Forest Park, canning nine triples against a Republic-Michigamme zone defense, rolled to a 66-38 Skyline Conference victory Tuesday night.

Austin Snell and Austin Carlson led the Trojans with 12 points each, both shooters nailing two 3-pointers. Carlson reached double-double territory by also pulling down a game-high 15 rebounds.

Brett Smithson added nine more points, hitting three more of the Trojans treys.

“Smithson had a real nice night shooting the ball,” Nocerini said. “It was a good night overall. They packed in that 2-3 zone and the kids responded well and shot very good tonight.”

Lee Graff added nine more points for Forest Park, as the Trojans had 10 players score in the game.

“After playing last night and with another game yet to go those this week, it’s nice to be able to play lots of kids and save some of our legs.”

A 14-point night by Republic-Michigamme’s Philip Koski’s led all scorers. Marcus Antilla put in nine points for the Hawks.

Forest Park won the JV game. The Trojans (14-1, 10-1) host Bark River-Harris Friday.
