They are our veterans
From James W. Rice, Oscar G. Johnson Medical Center Director:
The week of February 9-15 is designated National Salute to Veterans Week. The employees and volunteers at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center and its seven Community Outpatient Clinics across the Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin salute America’s heroes – the nearly 20,000 men and women we proudly care for and serve, as well as over 210 of our employees and 220 of our volunteers who served their country in the military. Men and women who have given more than most to protect and preserve all we hold dear as Americans.
This week, we join VA facilities across the nation in honoring these men and women who have paid, and continue to pay, the price of freedom. There are no words that can adequately express what their sacrifices have meant to the nation. However, we can take time to express our personal thanks and appreciation to them.
I also invite anyone in the community who desire to put their appreciation into action to consider becoming a volunteer at our medical center. If you are interested, please call our Voluntary Service office at 800-215-8262, extension 32780.
Our patients have a special place in our hearts. However, they are more than “patients” – they are “our veterans.” Please take time this week to thank a veteran for his or her service and sacrifice.
From Kristi Cazzola of Norway:
I just wanted to take the time to commend the entire staff at Pine Mountain, especially the ski school staff for doing such a wonderful job. This year is my first experience with the Pine Mountain ski school and it has been nothing but fabulous.
Every time I bring my son he is greeted by name and with a bright hello and a smile. The rental staff is super helpful. They take the time each week to help the little kids with boot and helmet fittings and making sure everything is put on properly.
The instructors are outstanding; they really make it fun for the kids so they are excited to come back each week.
If anyone is looking for lessons for their kids or themselves I would highly recommend Pine Mountain Ski School.
They are a class act in my book.
Congratulations to the Breen Senior Center craft class. The class has made a $1,000 donation to the Breen Senior Center in Kingsford. The money was raised during the recent craft show & sale.
The Breen Senior Center is located at 244 Parkway St.
