IRON MOUNTAIN – Gladys A. Mattord, 96, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
Gladys was born Nov. 24, 1917, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Theodore and Freda (Berglind) Norgren. She was a resident of this area her entire life. Gladys married Cyril Mattord on July 3, 1939, in Iron Mountain and he preceded her in death on May 14, 2006.
Gladys took great pride in being a mother and homemaker. She loved to work outside, was an avid gardener, enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles and was an excellent baker.
Gladys is survived by her son, Leon (Charlotte) Mattord of Iron Mountain; daughters, Sandy (Joe) Corsi of Breitung Township and Sally Mattord of Aurora, Wis.; seven grandchildren, Tim (Lynn) Mattord, Jeff (Andrea Mashak) Mattord, Joe (Kelly) Corsi, Chris (Jacqui) Corsi, Scott (Cindy) Corsi, John (Hope) Corsi and Luke (Kena) Corsi; 14 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Adam and Morgan, Bill (Shannon), Jake, Kye and Aven, Chloe and Shiloh, Annabelle, Makayla, Isabella, Logan and Julie Ann. She is also survived by several nieces.
In addition to her parents and husband, Gladys was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Anna Marie; her sisters, Audrey Chaplis and Sylvia Schinderle; and her brother, Ted Norgren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 7, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will follow at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Rev. James Danielson will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery.
