NORWAY – Joseph L. Butler, 58, of Norway, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at Bellin Memorial Hospital in Green Bay, Wis.
He was born on Aug. 1, 1955, in Iron Mountain, the son of Dolores (Tomasini) and the late Willard Butler.
Joe graduated from Norway High School in 1973, and attended Michigan Technological University.
He married Kathy Opolka on Sept. 9, 1988, in Iron Mountain; their wedding was blessed by the Catholic Church on Sep. 9, 1995.
He worked for Lake Shore for several years, and worked in sales for various car dealerships in the area. He was most recently employed by Wood Fibers in Niagara, Wis., in sales.
Joe enjoyed volunteering at Norway Schools, keeping score and running clock for various sporting events. He also enjoyed hunting and ice fishing.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Norway, Oak Crest Golf Course, and the Loyal Order of Moose.
Joe is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughters, Carrie Scott of Kingsford and Kelsey Butler of Green Bay; son, Kyle (Mary Beth) Butler of Norway; mother, Dolores Butler of Vulcan; grandchildren, Emma and Olivia Scott, and Callie and Colton Paul; brother, Brian Butler of Bloomington, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his special niece, Heather Janssen.
Family will greet friends on Thursday, Feb. 6, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Norway.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the church with Fr. Timothy Ekaitis officiating.
Interment will be in the Norway Township Cemetery.
