NORWAY – Vito D. Basile, 95, of Norway, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at Maryhill Manor in Niagara, Wis.
Vito was born on Sept. 15, 1918, in Brooklyn, N.Y. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a volunteer at the V.A. Medical Center for many years.
Vito loved music, cooking, dancing, woodworking, painting and entertaining. His great joy was playing music at the area nursing homes and the V.A. Hospital.
Vito continued to entertain at Maryhill until this past October, and then in November Maryhill became his home.
Vito Basile is survived by his only child, Allan Vito Basile and Allan’s wife, Linda Basile, of Green Bay, Wis.; grandsons, Allan R. Basile and Jeffrey E. Basile; great-grandsons, Jeffery A. Basile and Brandon Basile; and great-great-granddaughters, Kaylee and Lily Basile.
Vito was preceded in death in December 1990 by his loving wife of 54 years, Eleanor Marotta Basile, at which time Vito moved from Staten Island, N.Y., to Iron Mountain to live with his son, Allan Vito Basile and Allan’s wife, Linda.
Graveside services will be held at Nicolet Memorial Gardens in Green Bay at a later date for Vito’s family members.
