IRON MOUNTAIN – A large marijuana grow operation was discovered by authorities Wednesday at a residence in the Kingsford Heights area.

Dickinson County Prosecutor Lisa Richards said that the Kingsford-Iron Mountain-Norway-Dickinson (KIND) drug team acted on a tip and obtained a search warrant for the residence.

KIND members discovered and seized more than 200 marijuana plants, two pounds of processed marijuana, and a large amount of U.S. currency.

The grow operation was located in the basement of the residence, Richards added.

Richards said that the name of the homeowner will be withheld until further investigation is completed and criminal charges are authorized.

Assisting at the scene were the Kingsford Public Safety Department, Iron Mountain Police Department, and the Michigan State Police Crime Laboratory.
