Woman killed in plow truck collision

IRON RIVER – An Iron River woman was killed this morning in a two-vehicle accident involving a passenger vehicle and an Iron County Road Commission plow truck.

The crash occurred at about 6:15 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 2 and Sunset Lake Road, just outside the Iron River city limits.

Troopers from the Iron Mountain post of the Michigan State Police confirmed that a 49-year-old Iron River woman was found deceased at the scene.

They did not specify which vehicle the woman was in, or if she was a driver or a passenger. No more information was available this morning, as investigating officers were still at the scene of the accident.

The name of the victim is not being released pending contact with family members.

Troopers said that details of the accident will be released once the preliminary crash investigation is complete.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, Kristine McKinzey of Iron River, was killed in the crash. McKinzey lost control of her vehicle on snowy and slippery roads, crossed into the path of the Iron County plow truck, and her vehicle was hit, State Police from the Iron Mountain Post said. The Iron County snow plow driver, Ethan Amerson, 22, from Iron River, was not injured, police said.
