KINGSFORD – Bonita “Bonnie” Corcoran, 96, of Kingsford, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born April 11, 1917, in Escanaba, daughter of the late Daniel and Adelma (Procunier) Gunderman. Bonnie was raised in Laona, Wis. and Marinesco, and resided in Iron Mountain since 1953.
She was very active in the Breen Senior Citizen Center and served as director there. Bonnie had a huge scrabble addiction, was a Wheel of Fortune fan who never bought a vowel, and enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge. She was an excellent custom tailor. Her faith and time spent with her family were the most important things in her life. She was most proud to be a mother and grandmother. Bonnie encouraged the love and need for education throughout life in all of her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by six children, Norma Hoke of Iron Mountain, Robert Olson of Sagola, Carol Paisley of New Richmond, Wis., Margaret Corcoran of Perham, Minn., Michael (Sue) Corcoran of Kingsford and Patrick (Margo) Corcoran of Auburn Hills; a loving Nana to Tawn (Tom) Swanson, Kerri (Bruce) Hudson, Kim (John) Rudolph, Vicki (Robert) Berger, Tal (Sara) Goodchild, Melissa (Tim) VanPembrook, Sandra, Samantha and Jessica Hoke, Barbara Bishop, Daniel and Larry Olson, Robert (Cassandra) Olson, Edward Lovrich, Dr. Rob (Kim) Lovrich, Heidi (Matt) Sauer, Nikki (Alan) Winkler, Christopher (Michelle) Wills, Megan Corcoran, Doug Linsmeyer, Jamie (Jen) Corcoran, John and Jacob Corcoran and Brooke (Kevin) St. Arnauld; and a sister, Jean McKenzie of Redding, Calif. Bonnie is further survived by many great-grandchildren and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Norman Olson and Edward Corcoran; a daughter, Mary Michelle Corcoran Schreiber; three brothers and one sister.
A memorial service will be held on Friday at 6 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford.
Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
