No one injured in Frei Drive fire

BREITUNG TOWNSHIP – No injuries were reported in a New Year’s Eve structure fire in Breitung Township.

The incident occurred at about 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Tom Nash residence located at W9000 Frei Drive.

Breitung Township Fire Chief Jeff Iverson said that the fire started around the outside of a pipe that connected the fireplace to the chimney.

The two residents were home at the time and were able to exit the building safely, said Iverson.

Firefighters from all three Breitung Township stations worked to put out the fire and ventilate smoke out of the residence.

Iverson said that the home sustained smoke damage and a small amount of fire and water damage.

Firefighters remained on scene until about 10:45 p.m. Also responding were Integrated First Response ambulance and the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department.

Another fire was reported in the local area this morning.

The Aurora Fire Department and Florence County Sheriff’s Department were called to a suspected chimney fire on Fischer Lake Parkway in Aurora, Wis.

Officials did not have any details on the incident this morning.
