KINGSFORD – Dolores departed to Heaven on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, to meet her precious Savior, Jesus Christ and joining her beloved husband, Lowell, family and friends in the Lord.
She served her Lord with gladness in all she did since accepting Him as her Savior as a young woman, dedicating her life to the glory of God. Dolores spearheaded fund-raising for the March of Dimes to obtain walkers for disabled children. She worked for a short time in retail sales at Colenso’s, was a study hall teacher, Welcome Wagon hostess, and “Color Me Beautiful” presenter. She was a wonderful homemaker, caring for her family.
Dolores enjoyed knitting, counted cross stitch, gourmet cooking, playing tennis, gardening and reading. Better known as “Dee” to her Florida friends, she enjoyed swimming daily with her pool pals. She especially enjoyed studying the Bible.
Dolores was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Kingsford where she taught Sunday school. While residing in Florida, she became a member of the First Baptist Church of Naples where she attended Women’s Bible Study and served in Awana with children.
She will be greatly missed by her family and dear lifelong friends in Michigan and Florida. Dolores cherished her children, Vicki Swanson of Norway, Valri Swanson of Oak Creek, Wis., and the memory of her baby son. Her beloved husband, Lowell, preceded her in passing in 2012.
Memorial services in Florida and Michigan are to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Redemption Hill of Kingsford, First Covenant Church of Norway, or First Baptist Church of Naples, Fla., are appreciated, to further the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
