Trojans wreck Rockets, 77-36

CRYSTAL FALLS – The balanced Forest Park Trojans, triggered by a 21-10 first quarter, blitzed Rapid River 77-36 in Skyline Conference boys basketball at Eddie Chambers Gymnasium Thursday.

The Trojans led 34-17 at halftime and expanded the lead to 58-26 when Austin Snell netted 12 of his game-high 21 points in the third quarter. Snell sank two consecutive triples in the period.

“We applied pressure and ran the floor,” Forest Park Coach Chris Nocerini said. “I thought if we held their main guy Jake Pearson to a decent number we would be OK.”

Pearson popped in 13 points and Hayden Hardwick had 11 for the Rockets.

Four other Forest Park players scored in double digits – Daniel Nocerini, 13; Mitch Bal and Austin Carlson, 11, and Raymond Tomasik, 10.

The Trojans shot 47 percent from the floor and grabbed 55 rebounds.

The Trojans (4-0, 3-0) visit Watersmeet on Thursday, Jan. 2.

Billy Ragio’s 15 points fueled Forest Park’s unbeaten jayvees past Rapid River 61-32. Adam Hilberg chipped in 12 points while Parker Sundell and Connor Kezerle each had 10.
