Drug raid in Laurium

CALUMET – Troopers and detectives from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post and the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) executed a search warrant for illegal drug activities at a Laurium residence in Houghton County late Wednesday evening.

As a result of their investigation involving the manufacture and sale of illegal and controlled substances, a substantial amount of heroin, meth, marijuana and prescription drugs, meth labs and components, a loaded firearm and cash were seized, police said.

A 24-year-old Flint man was arrested on other charges.

The incident remains under investigation and additional charges will be sought for occupants in the house, officials said.

Also assisting at the scene were officers from the Laurium Village Police Department, Calumet Village Police Department, members of the Michigan State Police Meth Response Team, and the Laurium Village Fire Department.
