KHS’s Bianco nominated for top honor

KINGSFORD – Santina Bianco has been selected as Kingsford High School’s nominee for the Detroit Athletic Club High School Athlete of the Year.

This annual award started in 1996 and honors both academic and athletic achievement. While in high school, she has lettered in three varsity sports.

Bianco is a member of the National Honor Society and is in the top 10 percent of her class academically. She is also active in the community and volunteers her time to help others.

“Kingsford High School is very proud to nominate Santina Bianco for the 2013-2014 DAC award,” said Kingsford High School principal Lyle Smithson. “Santina is a well rounded student who has balanced a very challenging academic schedule with a commitment to athletic success. Through her hard work and commitment she has had success in both arenas.”

Bianco is a Great Northern Conference tennis champion in tennis and U.P. runner-up.

“Santina is an example of a young lady who has achieved success in multiple arenas through hard work, time management and commitment,” Smithson said.
