IRON RIVER – Nancy Beber, 79, of Iron River, passed away Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at her home.
She was born June 19, 1934, in Wakefield, the daughter of the late John and Minnie (Dahlin) Hagland. She attended Wakefield Schools, graduating from Wakefield High School with the class of 1952.
She attended the University of Michigan Nursing School and graduated in 1956. She was employed as a registered nurse and taught at several hospitals in the Upper Peninsula. She retired after a lengthy career as a registered nurse from Iron County General Hospital.
Nancy married Thomas K. Beber on Aug. 16, 1958, in Wakefield, and they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this year.
Nancy was active at the senior citizens center. She and enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and knitting. She especially loved her dogs.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Thomas; sons, Steven Beber of Minneapolis and Patrick (Kim) Beber of Grand Haven; daughters, Tracy (Patrick) Lyons of New Hyde Park, N.Y. and Jenifer (Brian) Gallager of Elliott, Md.; brother, Lew Bordeaux of Spain; and seven granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Hagland; and sister, June Hagkand.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Gathering Room at St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River.
Funeral services will follow Thursday at 11 a.m. at the church, with Rev. Gregory Veneklase, pastor, to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield in the spring.
