STAMBAUGH – Robert John “Bobby John” Wercinski, 60, of Stambaugh, passed away on Nov. 23, 2013, after a brief illness.
He was born on July 18, 1953, son of the late John and Geraldine (Laurent) Wercinski of Stambaugh.
He enjoyed playing hockey and tennis and graduated from West Iron County High School in 1971.
Bobby John attended Northern Michigan University where he earned his CPA. He worked for Anderson Tackman Accounting in Iron Mountain for a short time before accepting a position in Houston with the Department of Defense as a federal auditor. He was responsible for auditing federal defense contractors, including the International Space Station. He worked for the Department of Defense until his retirement in 2003.
Bobby John enjoyed restoring classic cars, hunting, fishing and was an avid sports fan. He appreciated the beauty and solitude of the Upper Peninsula and returned to his home in Stambaugh upon his retirement.
He is survived by his two sisters, Mary Joan Waichulaitis of Waupaca, Wis. and Ann Marie Coleman of Iron Mountain; two nephews, Andre’ Waichulaitis of Waupaca and Alan Arcand of Iron River; and three grand-nephews, Dylan, Daniel and David Arcand.
He is also survived by close friends, Greg Zielinski of Iron River, Brian Bengry of Folsom, Calif. Mike Zinnis of Marquette, and several other friends and extended family.
Honoring the wishes of Bobby John, there will be no memorial services.
