Christmas decorating contests in Florence slated for Dec. 7

FLORENCE, Wis. – As part of the Florence County Chamber’s fourth annual Christmas in Florence event on Saturday, Dec. 7, both businesses and residents are encouraged to decorate for a chance to win prizes.

The Resident Decorating Contest is open to all Florence County residents. There is no charge to enter. To register, go to to print off an entry form and return it by Dec.4. You can drop it off at the Town Office at 749 Central Ave. or mail it to P.O. Box 247.

Participants will be entered into a drawing to win prizes. If you have questions call the Town Office at (715) 528-3595.

“Parents love to take their kids for a ride to areas where there are many decorated houses. The goal of this contest is to encourage lots of residents to decorate. All entries will be listed on a map. Maps will be available at Christmas in Florence and at area businesses. Let’s make Florence County a destination to see the best Christmas lights in our area,” a spokesperson said.

Business owners have participated in a judged Business Decorating Contest the last three years. This year, any business that is decorated by Dec. 4, on the main streets in Florence and Aurora, will automatically be placed in a drawing to win free Chamber memberships and several free ad packages on

“So let’s help everyone get in the holiday spirit and decorate every business. People can’t resist stopping in a gorgeous downtown for dinner, a drink or to check out a store,” organizers said.
