Wisconsin grid league honors county athletes
MADISON, Wis. – Kingsford’s Paul Santi and Norway’s Brady Grayvold have been recognized by the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).
Santi, a senior center at UW-Eau Claire, was named to the All-WIAC first-team offense. Grayvold, a junior cornerback for league champion UW-Whitewater, was a second-team defensive choice.
Santi started all 40 games in his career. Previously, he was named to the All-WIAC second team in 2011 and 2012.
Grayvold is part of a Whitewater secondary that has posted a plus 21 turnover margin, forcing 2.1 turnovers per game, the best in the WIAC and third best in the NCAA. The defensive threat has also led to the best pass defense efficiency rating in the league and fifth best nationally.
Whitewater linebacker Cole Klotz was selected the WIAC Player of the Year. Klotz ranks 11th in the WIAC with 70 tackles, including 36 solo stops.
Whitewater will face St. Norbert College in the first round of the NCAA playoffs at noon Saturday at Perkins Stadium.
