Donald Larson

IRON MOUNTAIN – Donald Everett Larson, 71, of Iron Mountain, known to his friends as Lars, and to his family as Butch, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital. He was born on Sept. 29, 1942, in Chicago, the son of Beulah (Coombs) and the late Donald Larson.

Donald graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1961. He worked in construction as a member of the Laborer’s Union Local 1329.

He married Judy Pirlot on Oct. 7, 1967, in Milwaukee. The couple enjoyed 46 years of marriage.

Don was an avid golfer, golfing at Timberstone and Oak Crest. As an outdoor enthusiast, he liked to hunt, fish and go to camp. He enjoyed his time spent with his coffee clutch buddies. Don was an excellent cook and enjoyed having family and friends over for his home cooked meals.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; his daughters, Kelly (Jacques) LeMire of Iron Mountain and Lanny (Lee) Brown of Aurora; his mother, Beulah Spigarelli of Iron Mountain; four sisters, Dixie Brown of Iron Mountain, Sherry Christ of Mt. Vernon, Ill., Sally (Douglas) Beauchamp of Iron Mountain and Tammy Spigarelli of Iron Mountain; five grandsons, Joseph, Andre, Gregory, James and Luc LeMire; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Randy Spigarelli; his stepfather, Orlando Spigarelli; two brothers-in-law, Richard Brown and Jerry Christ; and a great-niece, Clara Brown.

Visitation will be Monday, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow Monday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Andrew Filizetti will officiate.
