Recount in Norway election
IRON MOUNTAIN – A recount will take place in the Norway City Council election, Dickinson County Clerk-Register of Deeds Dolly Cook said Tuesday.
Results from the Nov. 5 election showed incumbent Mark Bubloni finishing out of the running for a council seat by seven votes. Bubloni requested the recount, which is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, in the conference room of the Dickinson County Correctional Center.
In the race for three Norway council seats, the results were: Paul Hayes, 254 votes; George Bal, 233; Jeremy Oja, 230; and Bubloni, 223.
All of the candidates are incumbents, except for Bal, who is a former council member.
Ballots will be counted by hand and Bubloni is obligated to pay a $10 fee ($10 per precinct), Cook said.
Also in the Nov. 5 vote, Cook confirmed that write-in candidate Amanda List won election to the Iron Mountain City Council in Ward 3. List received 29 write-in votes from among the 43 that were cast. There were no candidates on the ballot and List was the only declared write-in. The Iron Mountain Ward 3 incumbent, Colin Jacobetti, did not seek re-election.
