Robert Beaster

AURORA, Wis. – Robert W. “Bob” Beaster, 73, of Aurora, passed away on Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at the Oscar G. Johnson V.A. Medical Center in Iron Mountain.

He was born May 4, 1940, in Phelps, Wis., son of the late Anthony and Clara (Bradley) Beaster. Bob attended the Kingsford Schools and was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a veteran of the United Stated Air Force.

Bob married Sandra Larson on Sept. 10, 1960, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aurora. He owned and operated the B.S. Bar in Aurora for many years, retiring in 1998. Bob was an avid golfer and a member of both Pine Grove Country Club and Oak Crest Golf Course. In 1993 he was the Upper Peninsula Golf Association Seniors Champion. He was also a past member of the American Legion, the Norway Moose Lodge and the Elks Club.

Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, target shooting, baseball and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandy; four sons, Robert J. “Joe” (Jenni) Beaster of Kaukauna, Wis., Scott (Kathy) Beaster of Kingsford, Shawn Beaster (Chris Witynski) of Florence and Andy (Corinna) Beaster of Kingsford; a brother, Alfred (Leslie) Beaster of Homosassa Springs, Fla.; grandchildren, Jessica (Lee) Meulemans, Cassandra and Todd Beaster, Rebecca (Ed) Chaperon, Nick Beaster (fianc, Jaime Larson), Barbara (Brian) Amundson, Mariah, Connor and Evan Beaster, Riley and Braiden Hixon, Bailey Draves, and Riley and Arianna Beaster; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a son, Todd; a brother, Byron; sisters, Shirley Felicia and Jeanette Lindholm; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dan and Fern Larson.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.

Funeral services will be on Friday at 10 a.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.

Burial will be in the Homestead-Aurora Cemetery. The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 will conduct military graveside honors.
