IRON MOUNTAIN – Kathy J. Oien, of Iron Mountain, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013.
She was born Feb. 14, 1964, in Norway, to Herman and Helen (Chapman) Krull.
Kathy grew up in Niagara Township, Wis., and graduated from Niagara High School. She furthered her education with vocational training in Green Bay, Wis. Kathy married John Oien, and they have one son, Wade.
In addition to her husband and her son, Kathy is survived by her mother; brother, Bruce Krull of Niagara; sisters, Judy (Tim) Smith of Fence, Wis., Beth (David) Canavera of Danville, Ky., and Sandra (George) Pabich of Plano, Texas; as well as nieces and nephews.
Kathy was preceded in death by her father.
She loved animals, and as a young woman she entered her horse in 4-H competitions. Kathy was loving and giving. She was always helping her friends and they, in turn, helped her. Her greatest desire was to be a good mom, and Kathy was indeed a good mom. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Kingsford Funeral Home.
A memorial service will follow Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Tim Smith will officiate.
