Household hazardous waste collection slated for Oct. 26
QUINNESEC – The Great American Disposal Co. and the Dickinson County Solid Waste Authority have scheduled a household hazardous waste collection or Saturday, Oct. 26.
The collection will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the waste processing facility on Baler Road, behind the Tri-City Cinema 8 in Quinnesec.
This collection is for Dickinson County residents only and identification will be checked.
Household hazardous waste items include enamel- and oil-based paint, paint thinners, solvents, antifreeze, pesticides, and other hazardous materials.
Materials not accepted are: biohazards, explosives, latex paint and radioactive waste.
Household hazardous wastes are products that contain ingredients that are toxic, flammable, reactive or corrosive. If disposed of improperly, these products can be harmful to humans, wildlife and the environment. Proper disposal prevents household hazardous waste from entering the environment; damaging soil, groundwater and streams; or causing harm to people and animals.
