Flivver jayvees stuff Mountaineers, 25-0

IRON MOUNTAIN – Kingsford kept its perfect record intact with a 25-0 non-conference junior varsity football victory over Iron Mountain at Mountaineer Stadium.

Coach Mark Novara’s Flivvers (7-0) return to Great Northern Conference action today, traveling to Gladstone to meet the Braves at 5:30 p.m.

Nick Smith paced the Flivver scoring with two touchdown receptions from Brandon Kowalkowski of 49 and 27 yards. Smith finished the game with four catches for 113 yards. Kowalkowski completed six passes for 139 yards.

Cole Moreau scored from one yard out while Dylan DalSanto raced 25 yards for another Flivver touchdown. Cole Moreau added one PAT. Running back Ben Moreau led the Flivver rushing attack with 101 yards in 10 carries.

Kingsford picked up 18 first downs (15 on the ground) and totaled 429 yards (222 rushing).

Defensively, several Flivvers contributed with Sam Santi and Mike Jamar picking off Mountaineer aerials. Holden Visintainer, Kyle Henes, Justin Grailer, Wyatt Caylor and the Moreau cousins topped the tackling chart. Brendan McGuire snagged a third interception nullified by penalty.

Iron Mountain’s defense was lead in tackles Luke Truscott (10) Kyle Johnson(10) Jacob Stoner (10) and Jacob Lefebrve (8).
