MARQUETTE – The Marquette City Police Department is looking for a suspect in the armed robbery of Valle’s Corner Convenience Party Store at about 10:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said a masked hooded suspect entered the store located on the corner of Fourth Street and Hewitt Avenue, brandished a knife and demanded money from the female cashier. The suspect received an undisclosed amount of money and fled north from the store on foot.

The suspect was described as a slender white male, wearing dark clothes, a makeshift mask and tennis shoes.

Shortly before being sent to the scene, officers were dispatched to the area near the Blue Link Party Store on Third Street regarding a report of a masked man acting suspiciously and walking in the area. The officers, upon arrival, weren’t able to locate the suspect.

Interviews have been conducted with a witness in that incident. Police said they believe the individual is connected to the robbery at Valle’s.

Surrounding neighborhoods were searched with a police K-9 unit. Northern Michigan University Public Safety assisted Marquette police. Anyone with information on the robbery should call Marquette police at 228-0400.
