Teen Read Week at the Dickinson County Library
IRON MOUNTAIN – Dickinson County Library and its branches will celebrate Teen Read Week Oct. 13-19.
The theme this year is “Seek the Unknown at Your Library!” which encourages teens to read for the fun of it.
To celebrate Teen Read Week, all teens that check out a teen book during Teen Read Week will be entered to win a prize pack at the end of the week.
Teen Read Week is a time to celebrate reading for fun and encourage teens to take advantage of reading in all its forms – books, magazines, graphic novels, audio books, and downloadable ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines which are all offered at the Dickinson County Library.
“Teen Read Week is an excellent time for teens and their families to come to the library and learn more about the services offered by the library that can enrich their lives, and provide entertainment and joy. It’s important for us to show teens that reading can be something fun and relaxing that they can do for free,” said young adult specialist Amanda Griggs. “Studies have also shown that reading for fun can translate into better performance at school.”
Teen Read Week is held annually during the third week of October.
