CRYSTAL FALLS – A convicted sex offender out on parole has been accused of possessing child pornography in Iron County.
Daniel Jeffrey Artrip, 47, of Iron River faces seven felony counts of possession of child sexually abusive material. He is also listed as a habitual offender-second.
If convicted, Artrip could spend up to six years in prison for each count.
In 2003, Artrip was convicted of criminal sexual conduct-third degree for having sexual contact with a minor between the ages of 13 and 15.
Artrip spent eight years in prison for the charge before being paroled in July 2012. He was still on parole at the time he allegedly committed the current offenses on July 17 of this year.
A preliminary examination in the matter is scheduled for Oct. 21 in Iron County Trial Court.
Artrip is currently being held in the Iron County Jail without bond.
