NIAGARA, Wis. – Armelene Ann Etka, 84, of Niagara, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at New Care Nursing Home in Crivitz, Wis.
She was born on Oct. 11, 1928, in Norway, the daughter of the late Peter and Rose (Lavigne) Vanderlin.
Armelene graduated from Norway High School in 1946.
She married Loren Ross Etka on April 3, 1948, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Norway. He preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 2013.
Armelene enjoyed cooking, canning, crafting, knitting and crocheting, making beautiful items that were gifted to relatives and friends. She also made items for St. Vincent Hospital’s newborn closet, which were items given to the newborn babies.
She was a member of Ladies Aid, a neighborhood Bible study, and a local card club.
Armelene is survived by her daughters, Susan (Roger) Lindgren of Green Bay, Wis., Mary Beth (David) Hagen of Gladstone and Carol (Ken) Scammahorn of Cashmere, Wash.; son, Richard (Becky) Etka of Waucedah; daughter-in-law, Alana Etka of Aurora, Wis.; grandchildren, Kristen (Zach) Lindgren-Voelz, Karl (Michelle Keehan) Lindgren, Kimberly Lindgren, Kristoffer (Rebecca) Hagen, Apryl (Travis) Steinmetz, Benjamin Hagen, Melissa Scammahorn, Loren Scammahorn and Amanda (Scott) Nowack; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Orville (Roberta) Vanderlin; a sister, Mae (Wayne) Michaud; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Gordon Etka; brothers, John, Peter and David Vanderlin; and sisters, Pearl Wills, Lorraine Trepanier and Terry Toney.
Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 11, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ortman Funeral Home in Norway.
Funeral services will follow Friday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. James Danielson, pastor of Evangelical Covenant Church in Norway, presiding.
Interment will follow at the Norway Township Cemetery.
