NORWAY – Leonard J. Schultz, 79, of Norway, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.
He was born on Sept, 25, 1934, in Hermansville, the son of the late Albert and Vivian (Midle) Schultz.
Leonard graduated from Hermansville High School in 1952.
He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959.
Leonard married Rosalind Gendron on May 30, 1959, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Norway.
He worked at the Kremlin Mine in Pembine, Wis. for 35 years, retiring in 1997.
He enjoyed hunting, horse pulling competitions, driving his motor home, and traveling with his family and friends – he even walked on the Great Wall of China.
Leonard was a gentle man farmer and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rosalind; children, Debra Hood, Rae Jean Schultz, Vicki Jo (Kerry) Darling, Paul (Tracy) Schultz and Peter (Lisa) Schultz; grandchildren, Kyle (Kim), Ryan (Samantha), Michael, Kimberly, Jeremy (Sandra), Tricia, Jessica, Adam, Amy and Jason; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Norbert (Barb), Raymond (Barbara), and James (Rose) Schultz; brothers-in-law, Robert (Dorothy), Eugene, Donald, Gerald (Judy), Patrick (Ellen), George (Diane), William (Shirley), and Ronald (Karen) Gendron; sisters-in-law, Jean Proehl, Jo Anne Gendron and Sharon Schultz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Greg Meynard; brothers, David, Melvin and Gerald; sisters, Arleen Burg and Anna Mae Noel; and brother-in-law, Richard Gendron.
Family will greet friends on Friday, Oct. 11, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at St. Mary Church in Norway.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 6 p.m. at the church with Fr. Timothy Ekaitis presiding.
A memorial will be established in Leonard’s name.
