IRON MOUNTAIN – Janice L. Gauthier, 75, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.
She was born on March 25, 1938, in Amboy, Ind., daughter of the late Mary Ruth Johnson. She married Paul A. Gauthier on Oct. 22, 1954, in Roswell, N.M., and he preceded her in death on March 2, 1974.
In her early years, Janice spent her time raising her nine children, and after her husband’s passing she went to work as a baker for Super Value and Econo Foods in Iron Mountain, until retiring in January 2007. Janice was a lifelong resident of the area, and a former member of the St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening and baking, but she loved cheering on her Green Bay Packers!
In addition to her husband, Paul, Janice was preceded in death by a son, Matthew D. Gauthier; and a daughter, Connie L. Gauthier.
Janice is survived by her children, Ronnie Gauthier of Florence, Wis., Joan Tappy of Gladstone, Don Gauthier of Reno, Nev., Vincent Gauthier of Iron Mountain, Kathy (Doug) Clay of Hockley, Texas, Brian (Kim) Gauthier of Hampton, Va., and Adriene (Lynn) Ostrom of Lake Orion, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Private family services are being held.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.
