Flivvers win rain-soaked affair

NIAGARA, Wis. – Kingsford earned a 2-0 soccer victory Saturday over Niagara’s club team, getting goals from Taylor Wickman and Zac Stankevich.

“It was a really good win in bad rainy conditions,” Flivvers coach Alex Milinski said. “It is always difficult to play when the field is drenched, we were focused and made our opportunities count. You typically only get a few chances when the weather is poor and we made them count.”

Wickman, from long range, put a shot on frame that slipped in under the keeper for Kingsford’s first goal, unassisted. Stankevich rose to finish off a cross from Geno Bianco into the roof of the net for the second tally.

Kingsford (12-1-3) faces Iron Mountain tonight at 5 p.m. at Commemorative Field.
