One injured in Breitung Township crash

IRON MOUNTAIN – One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident Saturday in Breitung Township.

The crash occurred at about 4:45 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 141 and the Breitung Cutoff Road.

Troopers from the Iron Mountain post of the Michigan State Police said that 52-year-old Walter Moore of Iron River was traveling east on the Breitung Cutoff Road when he failed to stop at the intersection and collided with a vehicle traveling north on U.S. 141.

Operating the northbound vehicle was 49-year-old John Nowicki of Niagara, Wis., said troopers.

Troopers reported that a passenger in the Moore vehicle was transported to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.

Moore was cited for disregarding a traffic control device, troopers added.

According to troopers, all people involved in the accident were wearing their seatbelts, and alcohol use is not suspected.

Assisting at the scene were Integrated First Response Ambulance and the Breitung Township Fire Department.
