ND overwhelms Rapid River, 3-0
FELCH – North Dickinson earned its second volleyball sweep of the week, downing Rapid River 3-0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-11) in Skyline volleyball here Thursday night.
“We were hitting the ball tonight,” Nordics coach Sandy Haustein said. “That was main thing we stressed, that we have to hit in order to compete with the better teams.”
Inconsistent passing led to a tighter second set, according to Haustein. But by set three, the Nordics passing improved.
Three Nordics were in double figures in attack points. Miranda Jacobson led with 12 kills. Chelsey Stroud and Lexi Steele each contributed another 10.
“We were hustling, keeping balls in play,” Haustein said, also commending Winter Steinbrecher’s defense. “It was a team effort.”
Gina Rotter added 25 assists.
“We still need to work on serving, but otherwise, I was satisfied with our net play. They all played pretty well tonight.”
North Dickinson, also a winner in the JV match, improved to 5-1 in Skyline play.
The Nordics play at North Central Thursday.

THREE LAKES, Wis. – Goodman-Pembine dropped the first two sets but rallied past Three Lakes 3-2 (22-25, 22-25, 25-20, 25-13, 15-8) in Northern Lakes Conference volleyball Thursday.
Coach Ashley Kalkofen’s Patriots (14-3 overall, 7-2 NLC) held leads late in the first two sets.
“We had a rough start, things were not clicking right away,” Kalkofen said. “But in the third set we clicked. We wanted a win and the girls did what they had to do to make it happen. Coming back after being down 0-2 takes a lot of hard work. What a great comeback.”
