Armond H. Czerwan

KINGSFORD – Armond H. Czerwan, 70, of Kingsford, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at the Northwoods Vent Unit in Wausau, Wis., following a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig’s disease.

He was born on April 11, 1943, in Milwaukee, the son of the late Howard and Johanna (Brietz) Czerwan.

Armond graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Wauwatosa, Wis. He served in the U.S. Navy for more than four years. On April 27, 1968, he married Joyce Hamann at Trinity Lutheran Church in Athens, Wis. The couple moved to this area in 1970. He worked at the Oscar G. Johnson V.A. Medical Center for more than 30 years, retiring in 1997.

Armond had a strong faith and was an active member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church. He has served as president of the church council and on the building committee. Armond enjoyed woodworking and horseshoes, and was a member of Partanen’s Ringers Horseshoe Club for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; two sons, Nathan (Kris) Czerwan of Iron Mountain and their children Jacob and Lauren, and Chad (Michelle) Czerwan of West Salem, Wis., and their children, Landon and Peyton; one brother, Melvin (Nancy) Czerwan of Neenah, Wis.; and one sister, Joyce (Marvin) Wilson of West Allis, Wis. He is further survived by many special nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.

Memorial services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. Rev. Stephen Lehmann will officiate.

Burial will be in Cemetery Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mt. Olive Building Fund.
