1 hurt in Norway crash

NORWAY – One person sustained minor injuries after a semi-truck carrying an oversized load collided with a car in downtown Norway on Tuesday afternoon.

The accident occurred at approximately 5:15 p.m.

Norway Fire Department Assistant Chief Patrick Siegle said that the vehicles crashed at U.S. 2 and Main Street. However, he noted that the truck pushed the car a distance of about two blocks while it attempted to come to a complete stop.

Siegle did not have any information about which driver was at fault.

He reported that one person was transported by North Alert Ambulance and Integrated First Response Ambulance to Dickinson County Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Traffic on U.S. 2 was detoured to Section Street, Sixth Avenue, and Main Street for about 45 minutes while first responders attended to the accident.

The truck was able to drive away from the scene, but the car had to be towed.

Responding to the scene were the Norway Police Department, Michigan State Police, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, Norway Fire Department, North Alert Ambulance, and Integrated First Response Ambulance.
