Crystal Falls woman accused of cemetery thefts

CRYSTAL FALLS – A Crystal Falls woman has been charged with more than a dozen misdemeanor counts stemming from thefts at the Evergreen Cemetery in Crystal Falls and thefts at retail stores in the Iron River area.
Carol Herbert, 60, faces seven counts of receiving and concealing stolen property, four counts of larceny, and three counts of retail fraud.
Herbert will appear in Iron County Trial Court for a pre-trial conference on Sept. 30.
Deputies from the Iron County Sheriff’s Department have been investigating the cemetery thefts since August. Herbert is accused of stealing grave site decorations.
During their investigation, deputies uncovered evidence of thefts from retail stores in Iron River.
Herbert was arrested on Sept. 13.
