Elizabeth A. Righter
PLYMOUTH, Wis. – Elizabeth A. Righter, 88, of Plymouth, formerly of Iron Mountain, passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at the Plymouth Care Center.
Elizabeth was born on April 6, 1925, daughter of the late Frank and Ethel (James) Ponchaud, in Crystal Falls. She attended Crystal Falls schools and graduated with the class of 1943 from Crystal Falls High School. In 1946 she married the late Bennie J. Holm.
Over the years, Elizabeth worked at the Roma Restaurant, Schaeffer’s Store, The Shoe Box, and the Iron County Medical Care Facility, retiring in 1986.
On Aug. 11, 1976, Elizabeth married George Robert Righter and they made their home together at Lake Emily. After retiring, Elizabeth and George joined the snowbirds, spending their winters in Winter Haven, Fla., and summers in the U.P. Eventually they became residents of Florida and in January 2011 relocated to Iron Mountain. In September 2012, Elizabeth moved to Plymouth to live with her daughter.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Beth (Holm) Waller (special friend Roger Schneider) of Plymouth; stepchildren, Michael Righter of Iron Mountain, Bobbie (Michael) Peterson of Iron Mountain, Rebecca Zavada of Salinas, Calif., and Mary Beth Vincent of Spring, Texas; three sisters, Charlotte Bosko, Myrtle McGregor and Loretta Nunn, all of Crystal Falls; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, George R. Righter, on June 1, 2013; her parents; five brothers; and four sisters.
A private burial service will be held at a later date.
The family has entrusted the Suchon Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Plymouth, and the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the arrangements.
The family would like to thank the Plymouth Care Center for the excellent and compassionate care given to their mother, and also Dr. Kumar and his staff at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic.
