Hubert J. Franck
AURORA, Wis. – Hubert J. Franck, 94, of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, Sept.18, 2013, at Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
He was born Nov. 16, 1918, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Frank and Alice (Grimord) Franck. Hubert attended school in Iron Mountain and before graduation left school to work in the CCC camps. He later went back and graduated from Iron Mountain High School.
Hubert married his loving wife of 70 years, Shirley Larson. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and participated in the landing at Normandy Beach and the Battle of the Bulge. Hubert upon being honorably discharged moved back to Iron Mountain and worked on the assembly line at the Ford Plant.
After a few years he went on to attend St. Norbert College in DePere, Wis., where he received a bachelor degree in science and medical technology. Hubert along with his wife moved to Wausau, Wis., to find employment. He worked for St. Mary Hospital as a medical technician and later became supervisor at the Medical Arts Laboratory in Wausau. He retired in 1975. In 1987, they moved to Aurora. Hubert was a life member of the VFW Wausau and a member of the NRA.
Hubert’s hobby was his farm in Aurora and he dearly loved his wife and family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Shirley; four sons, Mark (Brenda) Franck, Bryan (Tina) Franck and Aaron (Carla) Franck, all of Wausau and Lee Franck of Aurora; one daughter, Gail (Rafael) Guilbert of Parkland, Fla.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Gene Franck; one daughter, Carla Giese; one brother, Leo Franck; two sisters, Eleanor and Frances.
In accordance with Hubert’s wishes, private family services will be held.
