GLADSTONE – Lorraine L. Lough, age 100, of Gladstone, passed away on Thursday morning, Sept. 12, 2013, at Lakeview Assisted Living Home in Gladstone.
Lorraine was born July 22, 1913, in Crystal Falls, the daughter of William and Pauline (Champagne) Marcou. Her family moved to Goodman, Wis., when she was 4 years old, and to Iron Mountain when she was 7. She graduated from Iron Mountain High School.
In 1933 she married Emmett A. Lough in Iron Mountain. In 1953 they moved to Livonia. Lorraine worked in retail for J.C. Penney for 17 years until she retired in 1972. Following Emmett’s retirement that same year, they relocated to Gladstone where they owned and operated Gladstone Floral.
Lorraine was a longtime member of All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone and enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, oil painting and was an avid reader.
Lorraine is survived by her two daughters, Mary Jane Nelson of Niagara, Wis., and Betty (Mike) DeFiore of Gladstone; 11 grandchildren,; 24 great-grandchildren; her brother, Bill Marcou of Olympia Fields, Ill.; her sister, Peggy Hebien of Ishpeming; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett; her son, John; her parents; a son-in-law, Richard Nelson; her sisters, Eleanor and Pauline Marcou and Ruth Titus; and her brother, Leonard Marcou.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at noon Saturday at All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone with Rev. Fr. Jamie Ziminski officiating. A luncheon will follow services in the church fellowship hall.
Lorraine will be laid to rest in the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone.
Memorial contributions in Lorraine’s name may be directed to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Gladstone and the Hospice Volunteer Group of Escanaba.
